In aquaculture, CaCl2 is mainly used to regulate osmotic pressure, supplement calcium, strengthen shrimp’s body for easy molting, helps the shrimps grow fast, limits muscle turbidity, curved body, and soft shell syndrome.
Calcium Chloride is an industrial chemical widely used in many fields, diverse and convenient. One of its important applications in construction is to produce a strengthening agent, increasing concrete hardness. In metallurgy and paper industries, CaCl2 is used as an additive. In the rubber industry, Calcium Chloride is used as an emulsifier with the use of rapid curing of rubber. Due to its good hygroscopic properties, Calcium Chloride is used as a drying agent in many industries.
It is also used as a refrigerant in refrigeration systems. Besides, to neutralize the corrosiveness of Calcium Chloride, such additives as soda, lime, chromates and dichromates are added. CaCl2 is also used as a herbicide on railways, limiting road dust. In chemistry, CaCl2 is used to produce metal calcium and calcium alloys, and to distill gasoline. In tanning technology, and in the production of electronic equipment, plastics, especially acrylic resin, CaCl2 is an indispensable raw material. In the process of oil well drilling, CaCl2 is used as a drilling solution, cementing oil well holes and repairing oil wells; it also acts as a dehydrating agent in the petroleum chemical industry. In the water treatment industry, especially factory wastewater treatment, Calcium Chloride plays the role of water filtering, acting as a coagulant to settle dirts and heavy metals to protect pipelines. In the textile dyeing industry, CaCl2 is added to soften fabrics.
