EDTA 4Na is known as a popular aquaculture chemical due to its reasonable price, mainly used for removal of heavy metals, such as mercury, lead, or alum, mixed in water, and for hard water softening. It is also used to adjust the alkalinity, stabilize the pH in the aquaculture pond. EDTA 4Na helps maintain water stability and reduce toxins secreted by algae or generated by dead algae. At the same time, it provides more Nitrogen gas to stimulate beneficial algae and plankton to grow.
In paper production, EDTA 4Na pulp is used to inhibit metal ions, especially Mn 2+.
EDTA 4Na is also widely applied in other industries such as: In textiles, EDTA 4Na is supplemented to sequester metal ions to limit the influence on the color of the dying fabric. In the food industry, EDTA 4Na acts as a preservative to prevent oxidation and mitigate the formation of benzene in some soft drinks. In the manufacturing of detergents, shampoos and cosmetics, EDTA 4Na is used as a stabilizer to preserve the product’s features under normal conditions as well as many other applications.
